*Report on padavukal programme held on 17 Aug 2020*
The
seventh class under padavukal programme was held on 17th August 2020 .
The programme witnessed the presence of IGP Vijayan IPS, Mohammed Shafi,
Siju(ASNO) and an high-flier personality Gokul.S along with his two
intimate friends- Siddharth and Arundhathi.
Shafi
Sir gave a brief introduction about Gokul, his educational
qualifications and achievements. Vijayan Sir congratulated Gokul for his
remarkable achievement. His Attitude towards life and positivity was
also appreciated. Vijayan Sir also told us about the unique subject that
Gokul did research on- "How climate change Influences Literature".
Gokul,
who suffered from Visual impairment from birth, believed in integrated
schooling. He completed his plus two in a CBSE school and went to Mar
ivanious collage. He participated in several debates, speeches and quiz
which helped him in achieving his goal- Civil service.
Siddharth
and Gokul were intimate friends. Siddharth was his partner in many quiz
and debate and in life journey too. They rose together and Siddharth
was Gokul' s scribe for several competitive exams like NET and
University entrance exam.
Arundhathi was Gokul' s
scribe for civil service mains. She also tells us her experience as his
scribe for mains- and about the importance of Time management and
structural planning.
Gokul
was inspired from the dynamic service of civil servants during 2018
floods. They could shape public opinion beautifully. He, too, was
confident that if he was to think and act, he could bring a change in
the society. His disability did not matter him in the least. He wanted
to consider himself in the midst of everyone. A personality is not
characterized by his/her disability, it is how they overlook the
disability that matters.
He actively took part in
many competitions and debate. Studies and participating in co-curricular
activities were complementary for him. He also tells us that our
victory is not determined by our past, but our present and future
actions. We should not think in an ethical perspective- we should be
ready to accept our failures and thrive to find solution for those.
Gokul
followed e-books for his preparation. Arundhathi also stresses on how
focused Gokul was- his answers had clear-cut clarity. His goal was set
and idea definite. His supportive Parents had a great role in his big
achievement.
As school students,we should try to
develop our leadership skills and SPC is the first step. We should work
with NGO' s and should cultivate habits like reading newspapers. But it
is equally important to live our life admits all this.
Siju
sir concluded by saying that we should never give up and should try to
understand the real values of life. The class was interesting. We also
had a interactive session with Gokul Sir the next day which was a
pleasant experience.
